The Criterion Collection

Inventors of the Special Edition of classic and important films, anyone who has been fascinated by a commentary track or video supplement on home video has benefited from Criterion’s early period in which their work was essentially scholarly and educational, earning them the reputation of producing “cinema school on a disk.”

My work for them fell at the end of this period, as they transitioned from Laserdisc to the emerging DVD standard. The Laserdisc jackets below were splendid opportunities to amplify and project the aesthetic of the filmmaker as well as that of some of the of some masterpieces of world cinema.
